From AI ambition to governed action

The enterprise situation

A large, complex enterprise is working with i5 to move beyond isolated AI experimentation. The objective is to turn interest into a portfolio of opportunities, governed operating practices and a decision-ready path for the next stage of adoption. The starting question is where AI could create meaningful value, and what conditions must be true for it to succeed.

That requires looking at people, processes, data, systems, controls and decision rights together. The program seeks to build practical AI fluency and reusable approaches while preserving human accountability and the authority of existing systems of record. Faster analysis, less repetitive work and more capacity for higher-value activity are objectives, not reported benefits.

Three parallel workstreams

The program combines understanding the situation, taking bounded action, and defining the next decision. The workstreams run in parallel and inform one another. Governance, readiness, adoption, and opportunity discovery belong in each.

Understand / Diagnose. Build a fact base, distinguish symptoms from root causes and expose dependencies across processes, people, systems, data, controls, knowledge and decision rights. Readiness assessment helps make prerequisites visible before an opportunity becomes a commitment.

Act / Deliver. Pursue bounded analyses, prototypes, pilot concepts or other limited interventions where they can produce learning or value. These activities test assumptions without prematurely committing to production-scale implementation. Discovery and experimentation are not evidence of production deployment.

Decide / Define. Structure and prioritize the opportunity portfolio, clarify ownership and sequencing, and define what to pursue, defer, assign elsewhere or stop. The aim is to make the next decision explicit, including the evidence and prerequisites it depends on.

Target outcomes

The intended portfolio helps leaders decide what to pursue. It weighs value against feasibility and readiness, risk and control complexity, time to learning or value, adoption potential, and reusability.

Other target outputs include governance and readiness recommendations: operating principles, decision rights, data and workforce prerequisites, and escalation paths. Bounded actions are intended to reveal what is ready and where more evidence is needed. A next-stage plan would bring sequencing, ownership, prerequisites and implementation paths together for leadership review.

Where the evidence supports it, the program also seeks reusable patterns that can extend beyond one workflow or model. This is an account of objectives and work underway. It does not report achieved performance improvements or a production World Runtime deployment. The customer remains anonymous; no endorsement is implied.
