THE i5 IDEAS / SHARED WORLD MODEL
Agree on the situation before choosing a response.
A shared world model represents the operating context a decision needs: entities, relationships, resources, commitments, constraints, and how they change over time.
01 / In practice
Two teams can agree on the inventory count and still disagree about what is available. Reservations, delivery dates, and customer commitments explain the difference. A shared model makes those relationships inspectable.
02 / How it connects
The model makes relationships and assumptions inspectable. Events update state; proposals describe possible changes; simulations explore their effects. Systems of record continue to hold their authoritative business records.
03 / Going deeper
Shared does not mean everyone sees everything. Define the information each participant needs, retain the authority of source records, and make freshness, missing evidence, and assumptions visible. Those boundaries need to be designed into each implementation.
